You've heard it a million times since you started shopping for your dream gown.... "I just knew when I put it on that it was 'the one'!" And you've thought a million times... "Really?"
Well we're here to tell you, it's doesn't always happen that way. You may cry, but you m ay not. You may know as soon as you put it on, but you may not.
Here are some ways that we've found are generally pretty good signs you've found your winner.
1. You don't want to take it off. You'll know that you've found your dress when you'd be happy standing there, staring at yourself, for hours. There are so many angles to see, so many little detais to admire, such a glow on your face when you are wearing it, that you just don't want to take it off. That's a good sign that you love the dress and it's the one.
2. You can't stop smiling when you are in it. We've seen it a thousand times. All the other dresses were pretty, but 'the one' made the bride smile right away. She took her own breath away when she looked in the mirror, and she liked it! You'll smile alot when you see yourself in the right dress.
3. You think about it every time you try on any other gown and compare everything to it. We've also seen this a thousand times. You'll know that you've found the one when you compare everything back to "the one." You'll say, "I really like the skirt on this but I wish it had beadwork like the other one" or "I like the detail and texture here, but I wish it was more distinct like the other one." Take off that dress and put back on the "other one"! That's your dress!
4.You'd be happy not trying on another gown. You'll know it's the one when you can walk out of the store feeling totally confident in your decision and with no desire to look at one more white dress. It's the right dress when you know you're done shopping. You don't care if you try on one more gown because that one makes you feel like the goddess you were hoping to feel like. That's it.
These are just a few tips we wanted to throw out to help you "know." Don't worry if you don't cry! You might not! You might scream or giggle instead. Don't worry if your mom doesn't cry! She might not be that type of mom. The most important tip to remember is that every bride is different. Every bride has a different way of knowing that it's the one.Trust your instinct and stay true to what YOU really want, aside from every one else's opinions, tears, and cheers.
Keep breathing. You'll find it.
Yours truly,
The Ladies of BE
