Dearest Bride to be,
These days it seems like nothing is the old "norm" in the bridal world. Rules that used to be hard and fast no longer apply in the world of the modern bride (Like the bride being required to wear white or indicate who is paying for the wedding on the invitation!).As it has been said before, rules are sometimes made to be broken. One such rule is the idea of the seasonal wedding gown. In our grandmothers day the bride had to wear satin or a heavy silk in the fall or winter while tulle, lace, or chiffon was reserved for the spring or summer. Even in our parents day if the wedding was a destination wedding then the bride typically wore a light chiffon gown that was very simple with no fluff. Those were the rules and brides was not allowed to break them without being burdened with a social taboo.
Oh my, how the tide has turned when it comes to seasonal and destination wedding gowns! Modern brides have come in requesting all sorts or various fabrics and fits for their weddings that are taking place every season of the year.Weddings in the current times are evolving into a celebration of the couple and who they are as unique people. The brides gown really sets the tone for this and in light of it we encourage our brides to pick what looks best on and feels great. No matter what the style or fabric. Recently our owner, Vickie Cackler, was in Hawaii on the beach and saw a bride having her portrait taken while she was wearing a hoop skirt was tons of ruffles and layers! She was having the time of her life, fully confident in the unique choice she had made.
So be brave girls and wear satin in June or lace in December. Wear a soft sheath with no train in a cathedral if you so wish or ballgown on the shores of Jamaica. You will look the most lovely when you feel the most lovely, not when you're forced to wear something you think you should be wearing. Remember, there is no such thing as a destination dress, just your dream dress!
