Choosing the Right Fit for You.

Dearest Bride,

Time and time again we see lovely brides come through our doors without a clue of what they want in a wedding gown. Though specific details can be very important, there are a few major features that can either make it or break it for you. One element that we feel is most important is the shape of the gown. Every figure is different and there are certain silhouettes that can accentuate exactly what you want accentuated, making you look and feel beautiful! Here is a simple go-to sheet to familiarize you with what shapes are out there.

1) A-Line: The most popular shape that is fitted abound the bust and softly flairs out into an A shape. The volume and fullness can vary on this shape from very full to a modified A-line. This shape tends to be the universal flattering fit on almost every body type.

2) Empire: Fitted just through the bust with a non structured bottom typically. Very forgiving and brides with a smaller bust typically look good in this fit.

3) Natural Waist: Fitted lower then an empire, this fit clings to the smallest part of the waist giving and balancing the smallness with a full skirt. This fit is typically fabulous on busty women or those with fuller hips who want to hide it.

4) Dropped Waist: Sits below the natural waist and flairs out at the hips. This fit elongates the waist and makes shorter ladies look taller.

5) Trumpet: Fitted just past the hips, usually down to the mid thigh. The bottom of the skirt can tend to have a full flair out effect (dubbed the "fit and flair" style by many). Women with curves look wonderful in this as it gives a nice shapely silhouette.

6) Mermaid: Fitted just below the knee with a full flair out, the mermaid is the most dramatic look for a wedding gown. Slender or petite ladies a good pick for this style as the minimal amount of fabric will not overwhelm them.

These are the general guidelines but keep in mind that the rule of thumb is to try it. Each body is unique and you never know what is going to look perfect on!
